Danish “Spillemyndigheden” Blocks Access to Five Casino Sites

The Danish gambling authority, also known as “Spillemyndigheden”, just announced that they will be monitoring the online gambling market in order to try and locate gambling sites offering games to Danes without having a Danish license. In Denmark it is not illegal to play on sites without a Danish license, however it is taxable, but it is illegal for sites without a license to offer games to Danes through a .dk address or by having the Danish language as a language setting.

The first sites has already been found, totalling at five. The sites are all casino sites and they have been asked by Spillemyndigheden to stop offering games to Danish players. All of the sites have completely ignored the request however and this is why they will now be blacklisted and internet service providers has been asked to block access to the sites.

“These efforts have uncovered several new websites which have been contacted in an attempt to stop their illegal activities. A large number of these websites have corrected their gambling offers so that they no longer contravene the Danish gambling legislation. However, some websites continue to offer gambling activities without a license.” A statement from Spillemyndigheden said.

The five sites that will be blocked by Spillemyndigheden are: 7red.dk, 7red.com, wintrillions.com, trillonario.com and quasargaming.com. Spillemyndigheden hopes that all ISP’s will follow the court rules and block access to the sites as soon as possible.
