Casino competition empties Delaware’s pocket

Share

Last year, Delaware’s gambling revenues dropped considerately leaving nothing but to hope for the best for 2013. However, this year has been even worse, forcing the state’s industry to push a clear message at state lawmakers: “Help us, or workers will be laid off”.

Despite the decisions the legislators will make, Delaware’s casinos will have to cut jobs as competition from other states increases. Casino operators requested a decrease in slot machine taxes from 43.5% to 37%  however, it was declined.

According to a review of casino finances, researchers consider that the future of gambling revenue in Delaware isn’t promising at all.
