Canada's Atlantic Lottery Corporation has shown interest in the launch of a regulated and licensed online casino. The corporation is the latest in a growing line of Canadian companies wanting or having launched similar projects.
The announcement is not a surprise either since the support for a regulated online market is quite big while only some local governments oppose it. Other companies have already taken the step towards moving from land-based operations to online ones.
In 2010, Loto-Quebec launched Espacejeux.com, allowing residents of Quebec to play and gamble online. The BCLC launched PlayNow.com in 2011 which became an immediate success and was licensed to Manitoba. Now the OLG wants to launch PlayOLG.ca before the end of 2013 and make it accessible to residents of Ontario.
