The bill that was passed on 26th May by the Legislature that calls for an immediate ban on casino gaming still awaits action from Gov. Eddie Calvo, Guam Islands.

Archbishop Michael Byrnes supporting the bill banning gambling at the annual liberation day carnival and village fiestas said: “gambling is not evil but, it can become evil”.

Brynes felt it was a right step as the Guam community is a great place worth in things such as faith, family and culture.

He described the bill as, “a bold move to reverse a culture of recklessness and obsession which we see has been growing on our island.”

The bill was introduced by Sen. Telena Nelson. This bill will ban all the casino gaming activities at the annual Liberation day, run by Mayor’s Council of Guam and a non-profit group, the Liberation historical society.
