Andrew Cuomo signs casino bill

Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, has recently signed a bill that would allow the building of four Las Vegas-style casinos in the state. The bill will now go to concensus amongst voters in November.

The casinos will enjoy a number of benefits, like protection for seven years from downstate competitors. The exact location for the building of the casinos is still unclear. According to LegislativeGazette.com Cuomo stated “For too many years, gaming revenue has left New York for our neighboring states. Today, we are putting New York in a position to have those dollars spent here in our communities, which will benefit our local economies and tourism industries, as well as support education and property tax relief.”
