Over 97% of Super Bowl Wagers Expected on Black Sports-Betting Market

In the eve of the upcoming Super Bowl, the question of the legality of sports betting on the territory of the USA has resurfaced. The American Gaming Association (AGA)has estimated that $4.7 billion will be wagered on the Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. The shocking fact is that according to predictions, approximately 97% of that amount is likely to be betted illegally. Bookmakers in Nevada, the only state which allows unconditional sports betting, are expected to get only $132 million in wagers.

While the $4.7 billion is far from being an official figure, the AGA came up with it after extracting forecasts from a 1999 National Gambling Impact Study Commission report, adjusting for inflation and adding the proportion of Nevada’s legal sports betting total to wagers in the rest of the USA.

The Patriots are currently taking the lead against the Falcons as far as public opinion is concerned.
