Ladbrokes and Sportium in Mexican Betting Venture

Share

Sportium has launched a new regulated betting service in Mexico, the newly regulated country with one of the biggest markets in the world. Sportium is a joint venture between the UK-based bookmaker Ladbrokes and the Spanish bookmaker Cirsa, who is looking to exploit the Mexican market together.

Together the two companies will run Sportium who will leverage Casino Life and its online website, which will offer sports betting to the masses along with casino games, bingo and unique slots for Mexican players. The betting will include betting on the most popular sports and have its platform provided by SportiumBet.

“Sportium continues to grow strongly through our retail and digital channels in Spain and we see further growth opportunities in that country. However the strength of Cirsa’s extensive offline presence across Latin America now allows the joint venture to expand in that region.” Damian Cope, Managing Director of Ladbrokes International said.

“This digital entry into Mexico is very much a first step in our plans not the culmination. Our ongoing international expansion offers Ladbrokes an opportunity to diversify away from the UK market. The success we have had at building and launching brands in Belgium, Spain, Australia and now Mexico gives us confidence that we remain on track to build a portfolio of strong International businesses.” Cope added.
