It’s rare that a new tournament concept is created for online poker and usually they aren’t very popular when they are launched. This was not the case for “The Cage” high stakes tournament, which was hosted by the Winning Poker Network on October 9th however, as the tournament ended up having a massive $330,000 prize pool.

The cage was a unique new tournament form, as the tournament had a massive $5,100 buy-in, where players got chips worth real money, rather than simply chips. The tournament was a timed tournament, lasting for three hours in total and at the end of the three hours, the players had their chips converted back into real money.

The tournament had a total of 66 players who either paid the massive buy-in to try their luck in the high stakes poker tournament cash game or qualified through the daily satellites. The biggest winner was “bik6624235” who took home $29,947 from the tournament, with the next in line being “UpayformyKia” with $20,921. Not bad for three hours of tournament play.
