Rumours of Google taking over Bwin.Party

Online gambling news and lifestyle website has published today rumours of a possible takeover of Bwin.Party by technology giant Google. The rumours were reported by Geoff Foster of 'This is Money' who reported Google might be interested in taking over the not so successfull gambling company at a value of 200p per share which is surprisingly almost twice of Bwin.Party's closing price of 109p.

A PartyPoker representative posted on 2+2 forum that partyPoker had rolled out an upgrade  of its servers in order to fix many of the technological releiability problems present in the last 2 poker client updates. The rollout was described by posters to be disastrous and disappointing especially considering the amount of expectations the company management had for its release. Player figures and revenues of PartyPoker have also been dwindling, a problem which was supposed to be resolved with the new updates.

Should the take over actually happen, it would have to go through before November 23rd before Bwin.Party launches its gaming operations in New Jersey (so long there are no further unforseen difficulties and delays). Bwin.Party will be operating within New Jersey under an alliance with Boyd Gaming and MGM Resorts co-owned Borgata Casino.

Could Google be testing the waters of the online gaming industry by taking over one of it's more prominent companies? It could very well be so and that would leave a lot of questions out in the open.
