PokerStars Introduces New Czech Website

Following the receipt of a license to operate in the Czech market, PokerStars launched its new site, PokerStars.CZ on Feb 16.

The biggest online poker provider now has the right to offer online poker and casino games on the territory of the Czech Republic. The operator was previously represented on that market but legislatory issues demanded its withdrawal. Commenting on the permit, COO of PokerStars Guy Templer said, “We are very proud to be the first online casino and poker operator to be awarded a license and support the newly regulated Czech market. This underscores our commitment to supporting local regulations and obtaining local licenses wherever possible.”

The gaming authorization PokerStars has been grantedlegalizes its suite of Classic Blackjack, Premium Blackjack, European Roulette and Double Ball Roulette services.Further to its strategy to establish a foothold in the Czech market, the company has also applied for a local sports betting license.

According to the new Czech laws, the gambling tax amounts to 35% of the gross revenue on games using random number generators. In addition, licensed operators have to pay a 19% corporate income tax. That makes the total amount of tax burden more than 50%.
