MPN Launches Screen Name Changing Feature

Share

It seems that the future of online poker is allowing players to be as anonymous as possible, with many of the biggest sites and networks offering anonymous tables. Now one of the leading poker networks, MPN, will offer players the possibility to change their screen name to stay relatively anonymous.

Players will be able to change their screen name for every 1,000 hands they play or every 30 days, depending on which of the two will come first. The whole thing is set to be rolled out across all network skins from September 22nd, but some skins will integrate the feature faster than others.

It is natural that networks are trying to protect the recrational players from the regs, which has been made slightly easier with the change. At the same time it also limits the possibilities of collecting data on players and hunt them around, as well as sell stats from the players after having datamined.

Many recreational players no longer feels that the games are fair, based upon the fact that most players have softwares to tell them how they play, how they should play and which shows how much they have lost. The average casual player does not like being hunted down and lose their money faster than they otherwise would and the sites needs to react.

“The intention behind this is simple – we want to stop parasitic players from ruthlessly pursuing weaker players. We also want regs to play each other once in a while, and we don’t want players to create a new account with a new poker room just because their alias is unlucky.” Head of Poker at MPN, Alex Scott said.
