The state of New York has marked the beginning of a dynamic period in the development of its gambling industry.

One of the newest casinos in the area, Rivers Casino, has already been approved to host poker tournaments in April. Although the Gaming Commission is still considering the exact daily tournament schedule for the establishment, it is almost certain that things will go as planned.

Rivers Casino is enjoying healthy popularity with its 15-table poker room and the ambition to add more cash games soon.

Over the past four months, the state of New York has seen the authorization of 39 poker tables, most of which belong to the newly-opened facilities of the Del Lago Resort and Casino in Seneca County and the Tioga Downs Casino in Tioga County. Another gambling establishment, the Montreign Resort Casino in Sullivan County, is set to open in early 2018 with a projected 14-16 table poker room.

Next to the commercial casinos, New York also offers poker through its tribal run gambling facilities, the most prominent of which is the 32-table room of the Turning Stone Casino in Oneida County.
