Share

The US-friendly Equity Poker Network confirmed today that the network has experienced several DDoS attacks on their gaming servers, which has caused players to disconnect from cash games and tournament tables. DDoS attacks is basically Distributed Denial of Service attacks, where thousands of computers combine powers to send fake data to a provider and can shut down online service providers with ease.

There has been several reports about DDoS attacks in the online poker industry recently, with everything from iPoker, Party Poker, Winning Poker Network to the Equity Poker Network being attacked by these outside parties. For the EPN, the attacks has been ongoing for six weeks, causing some short-term interruptions in the service.

The EPN promises that their service is 100% safe and that no data has been compromised at any point during the attacks. Furthermore the EPN is working on mitigating the network’s online poker playing community.

“ We are working behind the scenes to strengthen the Network mechanisms and structures necessary to deal with such assaults on our operations, and we hope to reach a solution shortly that will fix the outages our Network’s Operators and their players have had to endure during recent times,” said an EPN Spokesperson.

“We are pleased that the existing software and infrastructures already in place have successfully defended the data from infiltration, and that the impact on players, while frustrating, has been confined to the disconnections from the Game Server, rather than on compromising the privacy and safety of their personal data.”
