The US American David Peters managed to take down the POY title.
Peters overtook Fedor Holz last minute by taking down one of the High Roller events at the Aria in Las Vegas.
It looked for a long time like the ‘German Wonderkind’ Fedor Holz would win the title after having one of the most amazing runs in poker history in 2016 but Holz decided to take it easy towards the end and did not play any more tournaments while Peters kept staying active on the scene.
David Peters, winner of the Global Poker Index Player of the year award had a very successful year, winning over $7.5 million, reaching a total life time earnings of over $14 million.
