Battle of Malta the Biggest Tournament in Malta

The Battle of Malta day 1b came to an end late last night and it marked a new record, as the Battle of Malta 2014 is officially the biggest tournament to ever being held in Malta, with the second biggest prize pool ever. A total of 1,447 players paid the €550 buy-in, creating a €701,795 prize pool, which a total of 261 players will continue towards winning their share of on Day 2 later today.


Gino Censori from Italy is the overall chipleader going into day 2, as he was crushing day 1b and collected 427,500 chips from the 13.5 hours of poker play. 70 completely full tables were in action on day 1b and every time a player busted out within the late registration period, a new player was standing ready to take over the seat.

Overall day 1b had 926 registrations, which is more than double the amount that most other tournaments in Malta manages to get throughout their entire tournament. It is also a higher number than the total amount of registrations for the Battle of Malta 2013, which had 888 players in total.


Amongst the many players playing day 1b were some of the specially invited pro's, where most of them unfortunately hit the rail. Dominik Panka busted out again on day 1b, busting two times in two days, 888 pro Sofia Lovgren also busted out along with Luca Pagano and several others.
