The 21-year old Spanish poker professional Adrian Mateos, who won the WSOP-Europe main event in 2013 for €1 million, managed to win his second bracelet in the $1,500 Summer Solstice No Limit Hold’em. Out of 1,840 entries, seventeen players returned on the fourth and what should be the final day. However, the players weren’t able to conclude on the fourth day, so Koray Aldemir and Adrian Mateos returned on an added fifth day.

On the final table of nine, the most noteable names were those of Mateos and Jon ‘Pearljammer’ Turner, who ended up finishing in fifth place for $98,617.

On the fifth and final day, Koray Aldemir started the heads-up play with a 2:1 chiplead. After some hours of play, Mateos raised the button to 200,000. Aldemir 3bet to 650,000 and Mateos called. On a flop of Aldemir lead out 490,000 to which Mateos responded by moving all-in for 3,885,000. Aldemir took off his sunglasses, shook his head and asked: “Why would you go all-in?” Eventually he made the call. Mateos tabled for an open-ended straight flushdraw, which was slightly ahead against the pocket 8’s of Aldemir. The turn gave Mateos a flush that held on the river , giving Mateos the chiplead.
