The Old November Nine Format Has Been Replaced for The WSOP 2017

The World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) main event is over and the champion is to be decided in July 2017. This is the first time since 2007. In the past, the main event was halted after the final table was confirmed and the 9 final players had to wait for over three months to continue play in order for ESPN’s coverage to catch up with production whereby fans would become more knowledgeable about the players contending.

The main event will now feature live coverage as from day 1. This will be broadcast by a partnership of ESPN and Poker Central. The final table will be able to resume play after only one day off.  The nine players will battle it out over 3 days from 20-22 July.

ESPN will broadcast about 40 hours of live main event coverage every year.
