Italy has had a bad reputation in poker circles for several years, with the players being considered some of the worst in the world. Mustapha Kanit, amongst others, is a living proof that Italians can play poker and do it very well.
Kanit has been doing very well in the live poker tournament circle for a few years now, with many final tables and impressive wins on his resume. Just three weeks ago, Kanit even won the €50,000 High Roller tournament at the European Poker Tour Grand Final, taking home €936,500 for his efforts.
Now he also started crushing the online poker tournaments, as Kanit participated in Pokerstars $10,300 SCOOP Main Event. 694 players paid the large buy-in to compete, but in the end nobody could match Kanit who took home the first place and an impressive first prize of $1,304,720.
The tournament had a total prize pool of $6,940,000 and prominent names such as Shaun Debb and Emil Patel in the final table. The 2015 SCOOP is now over, after awarding more than $76.5 million in prizes to the players participating. You can see the final table payouts below:
