Hard Rock International owned by Florida’s Seminole Tribe, have won the bid to build a casino in southern Ottawa. The licensing deal approved by Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. will involve redevelopment of Rideau-Carleton Raceway.
Hard Rock will control the currently gaming facilities at this site this fall and will then commence development in 2019. The project will a joint investment between the owner of Rideau Carleton Raceway Holdings and Hard Rock International.
The development of this site, which will be a multiphase project, will involve a total remodel, expansion and a rebranding. It is expected that the subsequent economic development could potentially create 1 900 new construction jobs along with another 2 000 related jobs resulting in a boon for southern Ottawa.
Hard Rock International is still pursuing the building of a $1 billion casino in New Jersey if voters change the permission law.
