New Phoenix Casino in LA Center Closes Down

Share

The New Phoenix Casino has announced that it will shut down this Sunday. According to the press release, the decision of the establishment’s management is based on continuously decreasing sales and significant staff turnover.

Casino spokesperson John Bockmier further revealed that many employees left the New Phoenix Casino to start work at the Ilani Casino Resort.

The other gaming parlor owned by George Teeny, The Last Frontier Casino, still remains operational but no information has been disclosed on whether it will take on any of the redundant New Phoenix Casino staff.

A new casino in the area is currently under construction. The project is worth $510 million and is commissioned by the Cowlitz Tribe. The difficulties of the New Phoenix Casino are said to be connected to the new project and the related road reconstruction around Interstate 5.

The closure of New Phoenix represents the second cardroom to shut down over a period of three years. Chips Casino, property of Steve Michels, ceased operations in January 2014.
