A new betting parlor featuring 265 video lottery terminals has opened at the Jake’s 58 Hotel & Casino in Long Island. Owners of the establishment Suffolk OTB hope the casino will help them get out of debt and avoid bankruptcy.

The casino is located on the north service road of the Long Island Expressway. According to expectations, it will generate approximately $164.25 million in annual profits. The management of the casino plan to add more machines for a total of 1,000 gaming terminals by the end of this summer.

The new betting parlor is hosted in what used to be the Islandia Marriott Long Island Hotel which was bought last year by Buffalo-based Delaware North. Suffolk OTB currently subcontract the casino.

Opponents of the establishment among the village residents claim casinos are not allowed by the regional code. Furthermore, they argue the Village Board gave the casino the green light last year without a written resolution or traffic research.
