A College from Southern New Jersey has announced that they are planning on buying the closed down Showboat Casino in Atlantic City from Caesars Entertainment and turn it into a campus branch. The Richard Stockton College is the college who is interested in purchasing the property and may be successful.
“Our intent is to engage in a project that enhances Stockton’s educational growth, offerings and cost-containment while at the same time brings new educational opportunities to Atlantic City,” Herman Saatkamp, Stockton College President said.
According to Reuters, Stockton College has been interested in purchasing a casino property for a long time with plans of turning it into a campus, with the Atlantic Club being the first property they had their eyes on.
In 2010 the college purchased the Seaview Resort in Galloway Township, New Jersey, for a small price of $20 million. Here the college trains students in different kinds of hospitality and generates revenues for the college by housing students.
