After two long years of construction, Kansas Crossing Casino held its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday morning.
The first player, Crawford County Commissioner Carl Wood, had the honor of the “First Dice Toss”.
Casino General Manager Doug Fisher expressed his happiness that staff did their best to overcome difficulties and make it to Opening Day.
He further commented, “We’ve said all along that we’re going to be a place that’s fun, and a place that Southeast Kansas is going to be proud of. And I think when they’re in here, just looking at the people looking around at all the finishes and how great this place looks, I think people enjoy it.”
Fisher also announced that the first jackpot had already been won, thanks to donations Kansas Crossing had made back to the community.
A grand opening ceremony for the casino is planned for Saturday morning. A live act by country singer Jerred Niemann will be part of the event.
