In order to rebrand the Point Edward Casino as a “Starlight Casino”, Gateway Casinos & Entertainment has announced a $26 million renovation. The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon at the waterfront gaming facility.
According to the CEO, Tony Santo the new Starlight Casino will have an enhanced gaming floor and two new dining options that include Buffet and the Gateway’s signature MATCH Eatery & Public House. The restaurants would have outdoor dining options.
Though the project is targeted to open next year, construction is to begin later this summer. The casino, however, is going to stay open. Due to this, there will be a lot to coordinate between construction and operational staff, according to Santo.
Mayor Bev Hand, Point Edward, feels it’s a huge investment in the village and that the partnership with Gateway is going really well.
A 20-year agreement that requires Gateway to guarantee all 325 local jobs for at least one year was signed between Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and Gateway in May.
