Court Ruling Further Delays Live! Hotel & Casino, Philadelphia Opening

Live! Hotel & Casino, Philadelphia would require being further reviewed by the state officials, according to the state Supreme Court ruling, asking the regulators to see whether Manoukin, owner of 85% of Parx owns more than a third of Live!

The project upon completion would have two-million square feet of gaming floor space with 2,000 slots and more than 100 gaming tables. It would generate around 3000 new jobs of which 2000 are expected to be permanent.

The state law doesn’t permit him to own any more than that. The city had approved the casino in December 2015 but due to the court challenges, the opening dates were further pushed in a similar ruling in March 2016

The $450 million worth casino is owned by Cordish Cos. of Baltimore, and Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, the owner of nearby Parx Casino.

The state licence which was awarded in 2014 was challenged by the SugarHouse Casino that alleged Manoukian of sophisticated sham transactions to hide his real ownership stake in the casino project.
