Casino Mogul Sheldon Adelson Discusses Potential $8B Casino in Brazil with President

Share

Casinos were banned in Brazil 70 years ago, but authorities are now revisiting this industry in order to boost the economy.  Proposals are being called to allow casinos once again and if the government were to approve operation of casinos by foreigners, this would have the potential of being a highly significant market shift in gaming history.

If Las Vegas-style casinos get approval, it could result in Brazil being one of the largest in the world after Las Vegas and Macau

Sheldon Adelson, the Las Vegas Casino mogul is contemplating pitching for an $8 million casino in Rio and has met with the President to discuss this.  He is opposed to online gaming as it obviously threatens his casino empire; making his pitch more difficult because it is known that Brazil is looking into different types of gambling initiatives.
