Four gunmen stormed the Pasino casino in Aix-en-Provence, a city in the southern part of France. This happened last Fridaynight, the four men are still fugitive.
At the time of the robbery there were an estimated 700 people in the Pasino, when the men wielding Kalashnikovs fired warning shots before running to the cashier. With the Islamist shootings and bombings that took the lives of 130 people in Paris fresh in their mind, chaos ensued as crowds of people scrambled for cover.
Regional police chief Laurent Nunez insisted that the robbery was “Absolutely not a terrorist act.”
Fifteen people were injured in the mayhem, some suffering superficial wounds and others from the shock. The robbers managed to steal reportedly in the millions, and fled in a car which was later fount abandoned and set on fire.
