Anti-Online Gambling Debate Intensifies

Sheldon Adelson has made a name for himself by spearheading the anti-online gambling war in the United States and he has the money and power to back his stance and acquire powerfull allies to rally to his side. Some of these friends include influential political personalities who have vowed to help him stop the legalization of online gambling in America.

Within this circle of powerfull friends, Sheldon counts up to ten state attorney generals who have signed a petition to congressional leaders and to the HOuse of Senate Judiciary Committee backing Adelson's request to keep online gaming illegal in America. In an ironic twist, Adelson is using money he earned throughout the years from his gambling empire to back his anti-online gambling capaign.

The letter directed to these political leaders and officials reads: "Online gambling exacerbates problems associated with gambling addiction and we’re proud to be working with a number of other states to address the issue". Adelson himself said in an interview with Bloomberg "Look, I’m a father, grandfather. I’m a veteran of the Korean War. I do not want my children to have the opportunity to become addicted to gaming. And poker, in my opinion, would become one of the most addictive games".
