A First for Pari-Mutuel Simulcast Wagering in the US – at Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casino, Iowa

Pari-mutuel betting is one of the only forms of betting allowed in the US as generally sports betting is illegal. Recently, however, gambling operator William Hill (UK) and Caesar’s Entertainment (USA) have teamed up to introduce this in Iowa and this being just before the 2017 Kentucky Derby on May 6, 2017.

A unique simulcasting area which has two video walls and a sports bar has been built near the casino floor.  Patrons to the casino can now place bets on thoroughbred, greyhound tracks and harness.

Insiders reckon the strict rules on sports betting may be lifted under Trump, a past supporter. Support is also coming from the major sports leagues who used to steer clear of any gambling association. But, more sports executives are now seeing the potential of legalizing sports betting and of course, the additional revenue that it will bring.
